What is Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the ancient Indian holistic medical system, originated from the state of Kerala, Southern India which is based on achieving physical and mental harmony
with nature.
Ayurveda, meaning “knowledge of life” is recognized by The World Health Organization and has been practiced for more than 5000 years.

Ayurveda sees everything in the universe, including human beings, as being composed of the 5 basic elements : space, air, fire, water, earth.
These 5 elements combine with each other to give rise to three bio - physical forces
known as the Doshas :
Vata ∼ air & space
Pitta ∼ fire & water
Kapha ∼ water & earth.
The secret of good health is achieving the perfect balance of Doshas for your body type known as Prakriti.
This is your personal constitution that you were born with that may now be out of balance as a result of environmental factors during your life which have gathered like a layer of dust.
The idea of Ayurveda is to remove that layer of dust revealing who you really are and help bring you back to the
perfect balance and well being you were born with.

When out of balance you may feel tired, lack energy and enthusiasm, suffer from a restless mind, over thinking, anxiety, insomnia, poor digestion, skin problems etc.
Sound familiar ? These symptoms can be a
result of a build up of toxins in the bodily systems
due to an imbalance of the 3 doshas.
Ayurveda seeks to eliminate these imbalances by using
5 approaches which include : diet, herbs, lifestyle,Yoga, massage / oil therapies.
The revitalizing and therapeutic treatments are customized
to your particular needs using specific oils, herbs and preparations chosen to rebalance and rejuvenate.
Ayurvedic Consultation
An Ayurvedic consultation is for those who want to create life changes and enhance their health and well being.
When you come for your first Ayurvedic Consultation you will be asked
a number of questions so the practitioner can gather a full case
history so be prepared to talk about yourself, your past history of
health and any chronic conditions etc.
The practitioner will be observing what you are saying and also
your appearance general body frame and other physical aspects
about yourself.
Observation of the hair, skin, nails, body frame, eyes, tongue and
pulse diagnosis will help the practitioner determine your own
Ayurvedic physical constitution - known as your Prakriti and an assessment of knowledge gathered from you, the stages of disease, illnesses etc will help to determine your doshic imbalance - Vikriti .

When making a diagnosis in Ayurveda the practitioner looks at the whole body, not just the symptoms as in
western approach to medicine and this will help to create an individual program of health tailor made for you.
Ayurvedic considers the person as a whole human being, believing that people have
within them the required energy to bring the body back to a healthy, or balanced, state.
According to Ayurveda, disease is due to an imbalance of the Doshas so the idea is to
bring the doshas back into balance .
Due to over indulgence of our society with too much TV and time spent with
technology, i.e. computors, incorrect foods particularly for our individual body types
and a fast paced life, it is easy to create an imbalance which is the root cause of disease.
The practitioner may recommend dietary advice, herbs and a few lifestyle changes
which can improve your health and well being in mind, body and spirit.
This process will take at least 1 and a half hours depending on the individual case history.
